DVR Alert: Hy-Vee Triathlon on NBC

Not that there aren't enough awesome sporting events on TV this weekend (Le Tour, Wimbledon), but you can add another to your DVR queue..

NBC, at the conclusion of their Wimbledon coverage on Sunday, July 5th, will air a 90 min broadcast of last weekend's Hy-Vee ITU Elite Cup.. in HD! On the east coast (U.S.), the listing state it will start at 3 pm, but it all depends on how long the Men's final at Wimbledon lasts.

Enjoy!

Athlete Spotlight: Justin Park

©2009 Clarke Rodgers/SPORTZFOTO.com

A couple of weekends ago, I had the opportunity to photograph an up and coming North Carolina pro triathlete, Justin Park. In addition to being an incredible athlete, Justin has a fascinating life story, which he'll be sharing with everyone when his website launches in the not too distant future. As part of the Lifesport Mafia, Justin has posted some solid results in 2009, and I believe we will all see and hear more from him as his career progresses. Check back here Friday for a full gallery of images from his shoot.

UPDATE: Sorry for taking so long, but Justin's gallery is available here.

One more thing...thanks!

It has been a long day reviewing, editing and posting all the photos from the three Hy-Vee events that I shot this weekend. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them! None of those photos would have been possible without the gracious assistance from Ashley at PEM, Stephanie at Hy-Vee and Peter and Delly from ITU. Thank you all so much, and I look forward to coming back next year!

Hy Excitement at Hy-Vee ITU Elite Cup

©2009 Clarke Rodgers/SPORTZFOTO.com

Des Moines, IA - What a way to end a great day of racing.... 5 guys in a full on sprint to the finish with $200,000 on the line. Simon Whitfield of Canada had just that little bit more that made the difference at the line. On the women's side, Emma Moffatt of Australia earned her equally large payday, by dominating the run and getting to enjoy the finish chute all by herself!

Since I'll be shooting tomorrow's Team Triathlon in Des Moines as well, I will have my entire "Hy-Vee Triathlon Weekend" gallery up on Monday.

The Joys of Travel

While I am very fortunate to be able to travel all over to some very interesting places to photograph races, events and athletes, I really wish "they" would hurry up and invent that transporter from Star Trek already! The goal was to leave Charlotte, NC this morning around 6:30 and get to Des Moines, IA for the Hy-Vee Triathlon weekend around 10:30 local time. Well.. two canceled flights later, I'm in Atlanta (not part of my original route), waiting on a ~2:30 flight which may or may not (I'll believe it when I'm on the plane and airborne) get me to Des Moines by 4. I usually have pretty good luck with air travel, so I guess I'm due some inconvenience...

Here's to getting to Des Moines!!

Fly Like an Eagle

Terenzo "Potato*" Bozzone (*ask him about it) and Mirinda Carfrae take the top spots on the Eagleman 70.3 podium. Two wins in two weeks for the pair: Mirinda won the inaugural Revolution 3 Triathlon in Middlebury, CT and Terenzo won at the Buffalo Olympic Triathlon in Buffalo, Minnesota.
